I felt that this webquest had a lot of potential. It is very attractive, contains nice pictures and ideas on the main page and the tasks seem simple yet challenging for middle school students. However, this webquest fails at even getting off the ground. Many of the links are broken or not found. How students are supposed to complete it is unknown. The resources you provide for the webquest content are one of the most important aspects and they are few and far between with this one. I do like how students are divided by their individual roles, so the webquest is unique for each student. It is clear what is expected of the students, and the websites that work are good sources. However, the broken links kill this site. Also, the main page and introduction could be confusing for students with reading disabilities.

ReplyDeleteIt is strange that both of your webquests have the same tasks and almost the same introduction. It is as if they were copied from one another. I agree that this is not the best webquest and is the worse of the two. It is not pleasing to the eye and does not contain many photos. I agree with you that the broken links make the site even worse.
ReplyDeleteThe webquest format organized and the colors are very fitting. I also liked how the links, although they didn't all work, weren't just the link copied and pasted they were changed into words. This simple techniques can help let the students know what they are clicking on. However, I think it would have been helpful to see an example of a journal entry. This webquest lack specific direction of how to exactly complete the task.
ReplyDeleteThis could have been a nice webquest if the links worked. I don't like the format of having to scroll down the entire page to continue with information but that's a personal preference. The pictures and color were appropriate. It seems a bit intensive for middle school but I like the idea.
ReplyDeleteThis author did spend a lot of time and effort on this webquest, and he has made a rather unique intro to get the student excited (bit of a strange leap, though---coming from the near future to have 3 kids learn more about the civil war---to save humanity and the planet!! Stretch? for sure!) It is well organized, and nicely designed, except for the full scroll down set up---but I guess that is a personal preference... It is the worse of the two for sure, though.
